Much in the same vein as last year, 2019 was definitely a year of quality over quantity. Work took me to new places again this year and I spent a wonderful 40th birthday in Hawaii. I also got myself a little birthday gift in the form of a new Nikon Z7, which has become my primary camera for the last […]

I took my new Nikon Z7 on a short trip to Hawaii! Here is a real-world review of the mirrorless camera body, as I put it to the test with my F-mount lenses.

Omar and I go way back. I took his high school Senior Photos for him way back in the day, and eventually he joined us in Project One and showed his old Honda Accord with us for years. Now, he’s all grown up, moved down to the Bay Area, and got himself a new sick ride! He just happened to […]

It’s always great to reunite with friends you haven’t seen in awhile. I’ve known Rheena and Randy for more than 15 years through the car show scene, and we share a bunch of mutual friends and acquaintances in the local car community. When she contacted me to ask me to take photos of her new car, I was more than […]

A little less than 15 years ago, I began my photography career when I started covering car shows for Subiesport Magazine. Little did I know at the time, this would lead me toward my current digital marketing career today, all thanks to my love for the Subaru brand. The recent announcement of the S209 made me feel nostalgic toward how […]

A look back at the year in photos that was 2018. Photos from Seattle, Berlin, Dallas, and Shanghai, along with a McLaren 570S and the Vegas Golden Knights!

I love repeat customers, and when Will contacted me to ask if I’d like to shoot his newest McLaren, I jumped at the chance. Instead of the more scenic backgrounds that we used for his McLaren MSO 650S Spyder, Will wanted to do more inner city backdrops and get some nice rolling shots over Lake Washington. We went from Ballard […]

When my good friend Ashton asked me to take some new headshots for her, it was a great opportunity to rent and test out the Nikon 105mm f/1.4G. I had rented and tested out the Sigma 135mm f/1.8 a few months ago, and while the lens is really superb, it didn’t really quite have that “wow” factor for me. On […]

Life caught up to me quite a bit in 2017. I took the least number of photos this year than any other year since I started shooting professionally, with the vast majority of the photos revolving around friends and family. There were even entire months where I didn’t even shoot anything. That’s not a bad thing though, since some of […]

When my good friend Mackey asks if anyone’s interested to help him shoot photos of his car, I’m typically first in line. Mackey and I started NWMotiv.com back in 2010 and he’s always been not only a great friend and business partner, but also a mentor when it comes to photography. So, whenever he calls the banners, I always answer […]

A couple weeks ago, I went to visit my best friend Sidnee down in Las Vegas. She had a great idea to go check out The Valley of Fire, just about an hour north of the city. We had a pretty packed day so we didn’t end up staying very long, but it was long enough to get some fantastic […]

The old girl’s still got it! It’s been a long time since I’ve driven my WRX, “EVA-00” or “Eva” for short. She typically spends her days in my garage now that she’s been a few years retired now from the car show scene, but with my friend Kyle “KP” Pope in town bringing dry skies from Arizona, it was a […]

2016 went by like a blur for me. It didn’t take anywhere near as many photos as I have in previous years, mainly due to life changes such as taking a role at eBay as the Global Digital Marketing Manager for the eBay Partner Network. Life is busy, but busy is good, and through it all I still found time […]

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure and honor to take photos of my beautiful friend Ashton Solecki, who modeled some new products for DailyDriven.com. This was her first ever photoshoot and she was a total natural! I barely had to give her much direction and we had a blast working together. The photos turned out great and I can’t wait […]

Paul was an old customer of ours back at World One Performance, who owned a 600+ whp Subaru STI race car that we built. Unfortunately, I wasn’t ever able to do a photoshoot with his STI, but we kept in touch after World One went away. About a month ago, he hit me up asking if I’d like to take […]

I recently received an email from Griffin Brugger, a student at Seattle’s The Center School, asking if I’d be willing to do an interview with him regarding photography. I was happy to oblige, and the questions he asked were so good that I felt they’d be perfect to include in a blog post.

I’ve often been asked, “if you could have any car in the world, what would it be?” At the top of my list for years has been the McLaren F1: all of the thought put into that car, the attention to detail, and just the sheer beauty and sound of it made it my dream car. The McLaren F1 might still […]

Will’s BMW 1M is definitely a thing of beauty. We had great timing with the Seattle spring time weather and were able to capture some really great images. Many thanks to Wence Estrada for driving my car for the rolling shots. I’ll be shooting Will’s other car in the coming weeks, so be sure to keep an eye out for […]

It was a race to take photos before the rain and crowds, but this year’s cherry blossom photos at The Quad at the University of Washington turned out great. We arrived about half an hour before sunrise and early hour resulted in a much smaller number of other photographers compared to previous years. This made taking photos much easier and […]

Some quick photos of Lee’s brand new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata in “Ceramic White”

I originally shot Bob’s Yamaha XS850 back in October 2015, but it’s been embargoed as he’s been waiting for the photos to go to publication. The article is finally live, so now I can happily show off these great photos that we took in the Georgetown area of Seattle.

My BFF Sidnee and her fiance Mia came to visit over New Year’s, so we used the gorgeous (but cold) Seattle weather to take some engagement photos over at Discovery Park. The sun was bright and a bit overpowering, so Wence assisting with the reflector was more than enough to get the proper lighting. I’m so happy for Sidnee and […]

A look back at the year 2015 in photos, through the lens of Armin H. Ausejo. Includes automotive, landscape, and Formula DRIFT photography.

The beginning of October has started out gorgeous here in the Seattle area, which made it a perfect day to take some family portraits of the Andersens at Volunteer Park. The fall colors aren’t quite out yet in full force, but that didn’t stop us from taking some great photos. Here is a link to all of the photos: https://photos.arminausejo.com/People/The-Andersens-October-2015 […]

After a four-month wait, new wheels for my Audi S3 finally arrived. You can read all about the buyer’s journey here on NWMotiv: https://www.nwmotiv.com/new-shoes-for-armins-audi-s3-ella/ But you can see all of the fresh new photos here below:

Formula DRIFT weekend at Evergreen Speedway is one of my favorite weekends of the year. Our coverage of this year’s event on NWMotiv.com is truly exceptional, but I wanted to share my own personal favorite photos here. I also rented the new Nikon 300mm f/4 PF VR lens for the weekend, which performed even better than I was expecting. Very […]

My friend Lee picked up a new Ducati motorcycle, but when he contacted me to take some shots of it, I wasn’t prepared for the awesomeness that I would soon behold. I’m admittedly Jon Snow when it comes to motorcycles (as in, “You know nothing, Jon Snow”), so learning all the details about the bike completely blew me away. We […]

It’s become a yearly tradition for me to go to the University of Washington’s Quad and take photos of the cherry blossoms just as Spring starts. Unfortunately, the weather hasn’t been the greatest lately, so my original plans to go as soon as they hit full bloom fell through. A week later, I finally made it out to UW at […]

What a year, 2014 was! I may not have taken as many photos as I had in previous years, but I’d say the quality is up there amongst the best in recent memory. Rather than taking photos of anything and everything, I ended up being a bit more selective for the most part this year, and really took my time. […]

Four years ago, I made the switch to full frame, upgrading from my trusty Nikon D300 to the Nikon D700. By the time I made the switch, the D700 was already available for  2 1/2 years, so its reputation and capabilities were already well-established. Full frame was like night and day after coming from a cropped sensor camera, and while […]

Last month, together my NWMotiv.com partner in crime, Josh Mackey, photographed a set of features for NWMotiv that we called “theKings,” comprised of some of the best Hondas that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Mackey took the majority of the workload, while staff photographers Vinnie Nguyen and Ken Arnold II assisted with lighting and staff videographer James Whelan recorded […]

What an absolutely gorgeous day for a wedding! Clear skies, beautiful surroundings, and Mt. Rainier watching over all of us made for just about a perfect day all around. Read all about it and see all the photos here on my weddings site: https://www.arminweddings.com/2014/09/szelachowski-triplett-wedding/

My good friend Alan is getting married next year, and I’m honored to be a groomsman! Since I won’t be photographing the wedding, he asked me to take his engagement photos instead. Check them out on my weddings site here: https://www.arminweddings.com/2014/09/alan-and-krystals-engagement/

Last year, I shot two launch events for Toyota USA, the launch of the new Tundra and 4Runner and the launch of the new Corolla. I must’ve made a great impression, because this year the same agency hired me to shoot the launch event for the new Lexus NX here in Seattle. Unlike the Corolla shoot, which would take place at […]

2013 was a very successful and productive year for my photography. Check out all of the different things that I’ve photographed this year!

Back in July, my friend Richard Thompson contacted me and asked if I’d be available to assist him with a photoshoot up here in the Pacific Northwest. He said he was shooting a professional basketball player for Forgiato Wheels and DUB Magazine, but at the time he still wasn’t exactly sure who it would be. Being a huge basketball fan […]

After photographing the new 2014 Tundra and 4Runner for Toyota USA back in August, their PR agency also asked me to photograph the new 2014 Corolla a month later. This time, the photos would be shot at various locations throughout Seattle proper, but the turnaround time again was very fast, requiring finished photos by noon the next day. Again, I […]

I’ve seen some crazy builds in my day, but Kito’s BMW V12-powered Range Rover ranks up there among not only the craziest, but also one of the most well done. I shot Kito’s Range Rover the same day that I shot’s Erich’s Land Rover for UK-based Land Rover Owner International, and it finally made its debut in the October 2013 […]

Back in June, I was contacted by a PR firm asking for a quote for some automotive photography. A month later, I found out that they accepted my offer, and I was pleased to find out that I’d be shooting photos for PR and editorial use for Toyota USA! The brand new 2014 Toyota Tundra and 4Runner were being launched, […]

My friend Kito is into many awesome things. I recently shot his Range Rover for Land Rover Owner International Magazine, but we’re still waiting for the feature to publish before I can share photos. In the meantime, he told me that he’s building a rally-x car, and that he’s going to be doing a very unique paint job for it, […]

What happens when one of your good friends needs your help for a 3-day event that you were almost completely unprepared for? You rise to the occasion, that’s what you do! Faizan and Hien’s wedding was a blast, and I was honored to be able to capture it all through photos. Read all about it here on my Armin Weddings […]

I had traveled to Southern California on family business back at the end of March, and thus while I did some sightseeing and processed a number of photos, I almost forgot to post them up here on my blog. I hadn’t gone sightseeing around San Diego in years, so I made sure to bring all my necessary equipment with me […]

Back in March of this year, I was asked to shoot two Land Rovers in the area for the UK-based magazine, Land Rover Owner International (LRO). Both shoots were done the same day and the US editor even flew out to meet the owners and direct the shoot a bit. The first of these features is now out in the July […]

Last year, I shot Haila’s Toyota Starlet for NWMotiv, but this time around Haila wanted to get some photos of her own. Thanks to some really assistance from our good friend Nosilla, I believe these photos turned out great. Each of these was taken with my Nikkor 70-200mm ƒ2.8 VR2.  I definitely plan to use some of these to replace […]

On April 17-18, the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) held their 16th annual Mudfest, which brings together the latest and greatest SUVs and crossovers for a competition to see which is the best, voted among NWAPA’s members. This year, 23 vehicles from 13 manufacturers participated in the competition at Dirtfish Rally School in Snoqualmie, Washington and I was honored to […]

I had my first engagement shoot in quite awhile last Friday! Check out the photos and write-up on my weddings site here: https://www.arminweddings.com/2013/03/faizan-and-hien-engagement/

I started using my first DSLR, a Nikon D70, back in September 2004. It was Nikon’s first consumer-level DSLR, with a whopping 6 megapixels and breakthrough high ISO performance. Since then, I’ve relied on the high quality of DSLRs to produce print-worthy photos, along with the use of the RAW file format to process photos to my own liking. Meanwhile, […]

In terms of my photography, I’d have to say that 2012 was a pivotal, life-changing year for me. I learned a lot of new techniques, sharpened many skills, and met a whole lot of great people. I thank each and every one of your for all of your support in this past year, and I’m very much looking forward to […]

Lately, I’ve been going back and re-editing some old photos, just to see how I’d do things differently given all the time and experience that’s transpired since the original edit. Here are a few examples that I’d like to share: [beforeafter][/beforeafter] [beforeafter] [/beforeafter] [beforeafter] [/beforeafter]

Looking for a holiday gift for yourself or your loved one, that’ll keep on giving throughout the year?  Armin Ausejo Photography 2013 Calendars are now on sale for a mere $10 including shipping via USPS!  You can purchase calendars, prints, and vinyl decals through this link on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ArminPhoto/app_251458316228 Be sure to purchase soon, as quantities are limited!

Shooting an “old school” car was a nice change of pace! Haila’s Starlet is my latest feature on NWMotiv, and given the old school car, I decided to go with an old school style of processing for the photos. See all the photos and read all about it here: https://www.nwmotiv.com/cars/shooting-starlet/ And here’s a few of my favorites from the set:

The final round of the Formula DRIFT 2012 season took place as usual at “The House of Drift” in Irwindale, California. It was an awesome event and I got to meet a bunch of people that I’ve been meaning to meet face-to-face for quite some time. I also rented a Nikon D4 to cover the event (big thanks to BorrowLenses.com) […]

Last weekend, I took a couple photos immediately following NWMotiv’s inMotion Car Show and Drift Event. It was a favor for my friend Kenji (who owns the white Lexus) and he just wanted a couple quick pics. Each photo was handheld with my D700 and Nikkor 24-70mm ƒ2.8, ISO 800, ƒ5.6, with the first one above at 1/50 sec and […]

Back in March, I was contacted by Modified Magazine to shoot two cars in the Seattle area for them. The first of these was David’s Mazda MPV, and the second one was Andrew’s Subaru RSTI as you can see above. It’s been awhile since I’ve shot a Subaru for a print magazine and thankfully it felt like I was right […]

3 1/2 weeks ago was my 6th annual visit to Formula DRIFT Seattle, covering it once again for NWMotiv.  It was probably my favorite Formula DRIFT in the past 6 years, since I knew more people, the weather was perfect most of the time, and I feel like I took some of my best photos.  You can read all about […]

A few years ago, I shot Jag’s Porsche 911 Turbo for TunerZine, and it was just crazy luck that Mackey ended up shooting his Lamborghini Murciélago. Since this was Mackey’s shoot for iForged Wheels, I was just there to tag along and assist. I still got my shots in and I’m very happy with how they turned out. I tried […]

My yearly ritual to capture the fireworks over Gasworks Park was a bit different this year, since our good friend Eugene had moved out of state and thus we couldn’t use his roof. Instead, we braved the parking and traffic to secure a spot on the shores of Lake Union as we had a few years ago. After waiting about […]

A few months ago, I was contacted by the folks at Modified Magazine to shoot two cars in the Seattle area.  The first of these two assignments finally went to print in the July 2012 issue of Modified Magazine. As you can see, it probably isn’t what you might be expecting: it’s a Mazda MPV with a 300ZX twin turbo […]

I had some relatives from North Carolina come for a visit last week, so I took them around the city at night to do a little sightseeing. I brought my camera with me of course and snapped a few photos at the places we went. The panorama above is a 3-photo stitch from Alki in West Seattle, and the three […]

There are very few cars that seem to universally appeal to the masses, and I’m fortunate enough that I was able to photograph one of them for NWMotiv last month.  I was also fortunate to have a rented D800 to play with for the shoot as well, which impressed me in just about every way possible.  We did a full […]

Last year, my good friend Berto asked me if I was interested in helping him out with behind the scenes photos of a music video shoot for local hip-hop artist, PROPS!  I had met PROPS! previously at a couple of Berto’s parties, so I was happy to lend a helping hand.  I took photos on location for a couple days […]

If you’re reading this, you’ve already noticed that the website looks very different!  As much as I love the Graph Paper Press templates, I felt like it was time for a change, so after a few days of looking at various designs (and trying out a few), I’ve settled on this new template from Theme Forest.  So far I think […]

Last Sunday, KP and I joined Josh Mackey in shooting Jason’s Genesis Coupe. I really needed help in figuring out what I was doing wrong with rig shots, and thankfully Mackey was happy to show me the way. He showed us how to set it up properly and I quickly learned what I was doing incorrectly.  This finally allowed me […]

It’s been a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to just shoot a car without any time constraints, deadlines, or expectations.  Alan and I caught a break in the weather on Sunday night and despite having my SB-600 and umbrella on stand blown down by the wind, the photos still turned out great and Alan was very happy with […]

2011 proved to be a banner year in terms of the sheer number of photos I’ve taken and how I feel I’ve grown as a photographer. I shot a variety of different subjects, helped mentor and advise a great group of photographers, and helped NWMotiv establish itself as a major media player in the local automotive scene. Rather than bore […]

I had the honor of photographing Stephanie and Travis’ wedding last December, and now I had the honor of photographing their maternity photos. We had a bit of a scare because the weather was looking rather gloomy, but we caught a break with only a little bit of light drizzle and none of the continuous rain that was predicted. This […]

Just a little Halloween fun with Miss Erica May.  I shot each photo with my Nikkor 24-70mm ƒ2.8 and the 100% natural lighting worked great inside the University of Washington’s Suzzallo Library.  We timed it perfectly with just a few bystanders giving us strange looks, and we made sure we weren’t too big of a disturbance in the quiet areas. […]

Hagen is Garret’s brother, so I was more than happy to take their engagement photos, along with his upcoming wedding as well. Hagen and Natalie were going with a nautical theme for their wedding and wanted some shots with the Seattle skyline behind them, so Alki was the obvious choice for some good locations. We lost light pretty fast, but […]

For the second year in a row, I was fortunate enough to shoot DeadMau5 for the Seattle Weekly. I shot the entire show with just my Nikkor 24-70mm ƒ2.8, and its lightning-quick focusing proved to be very invaluable. The show was amazing as usual and I was able to get some great crowd photos. You can see all the published […]

XDC (Xtreme Drift Circuit) is the latest national drift series to make a stop in the Northwest, and I was happy to cover it for NWMotiv.com. Speeds were much slower than Formula D thanks to the smaller kart track, so trying to get good slower-shutter pans was much more challenging. The photos still came out great though, and I’m glad […]

I miss the Seattle Supersonics. After being stripped away from my beloved city of Seattle by a number of forces (be sure to watch Sonicsgate for the full scoop…it’s free and won a Webby Award), I have sorely missed professional men’s basketball since 2008. Thus, once I heard that a charity game bringing NBA players from Seattle and the Pacific […]

Formula D Seattle is undoubtedly my most favorite event to photograph every year. In previous years, I shot the event for Subiesport Magazine and Driving Sports, however this was the first year I shot the event for NWMotiv.com. Due to scheduling issues with another event I was going to on Saturday, I was only able to shoot Friday’s practice and […]

After a couple rain/weather delays, Kaylee and I were finally able to go do some fashion photography on a beautiful summer’s day at Renton’s Coulon Park.  With plenty of assistance from Erica May, Kaylee and I were able to take photos of her in three different outfits, timing it perfectly to end our shoot at sunset.  I took this opportunity […]

It’s been a pretty busy summer for me, so I apologize for the lack of updates. NWMotiv and all the various car events have been taking the vast majority of my time these days, so I figured I’d encompass what I’ve done so far in a single post.  Each of the following NWMotiv features have photos that I’ve taken, so […]

When my friend Kiyomi asked me to take photos of the food at her restaurant, Cheeky Cafe, I simply could not say no.  She told me to come hungry, so I brought Wence, Carlos, and Erica with me and we all left with a food coma that would last the entire weekend.  I cannot praise the food at Cheeky […]

Blue Scholars are undoubtedly my favorite hip-hop artists.  With roots from the University of Washington and made up of just “one DJ and one MC, ” they’ve always made music that speaks to me, not just through the beats and lyrics, but also through the connection I have as a Filipino American and University of Washington alumnus.  To raise money […]

It’s been three and a half years since I went out to take photos of Seattle at night, and since my friend Pauline really wanted to take photos and learn more about using her DSLR, we decided to take advantage of the dry and warm Seattle weather. We started at Kerry Park and ended up on the Jose Rizal Bridge […]

Four years ago, I took Brianna’s senior portraits and much to my surprise, she hit me up randomly for some new photos. Apparently, she had been using her old photos all this time and never had a chance to get some new ones done. The weather turned out to be absolutely gorgeous here in Seattle this past weekend, so we […]

Last Sunday the 22nd was the University Street Fair, and my friends and I decided go to out and shoot some street photography. I hadn’t done any dedicated street photography for some time now, so it was a welcome change to most of the other types of things I’ve been shooting lately. I only brought my Nikkor 50mm ƒ1.4 and […]

First off, a big congratulations to Erica for making into the 2012 SubieGirls.com Calendar! I took these photos a few weeks ago, but Erica didn’t want me to publish them until the competition was over. Based on the number of forum posts she had on their forum, Erica was able to submit 2 photos and then the top 12 winners […]

Since I started using my Nikon D700 last November, I hadn’t really changed my line-up of lenses.  My Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D and Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D felt right at home with the new full frame sensor, and the Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G satisfied my everyday walk around lens requirement, but none of these lenses really offered anything new to me.  On top […]

To help me decide on some possible future lens purchases, I went to BorrowLenses.com to rent the Nikkor 135mm ƒ2 and Nikkor 24mm ƒ1.4.  I couldn’t properly test these lenses of course without a good subject, so I got in touch with Erica once again to help me out.  She happily obliged and this time around, we both wanted to […]

Part 2 of the PROPS! shoot (see here for Part 1) was a concert at Rock Paper Scissors in Seattle, which also featured Vitamin D and International Mo.  The venue was packed with people, which made it a little difficult to move around, but I was still able to get some great shots.  All photos were taken with my 24-70mm […]

I arrived back from The Philippines (many photos coming soon!) on Monday the 21st after three weeks of vacation, and immediately Berto from Lake City Legends hooked it up with a behind the scenes video shoot for PROPS! on the 25th and his concert the next day.  The video shoot took place at the Century Ballroom on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, […]

Erica’s been a great subject to photograph lately, and when she told me that she wanted some photos to show off some Husky pride before the Apple Cup in early December 2010, she didn’t have to ask for my help twice.  I finished a few photos first for her use, but wasn’t able to process any more until I finished […]

My cousin Liezl got married to her long-time boyfriend and I was able to make the wedding on New Year’s Eve, despite the fact that I was originally supposed to be out of town! I wasn’t the hired photographer for this wedding, so I was able to do a little experimentation with lens choices and post-processing. Please let me know […]

The hearts of many male (and probably a few female) Subaru owners broke over night on December 4, 2010 when the (in)famous Stephanie French said “I do” to the love of her life, Travis Wiegand. I had the honor of capturing these moments and more at their wedding in Bellingham, Washington. It also marked the debut of my new Nikon […]

For my first official assignment as a freelance photographer for The Seattle Weekly, I was fortunate enough to land a gig taking photos of DeadMau5 at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre.  My photos of DeadMau5 and opening acts Die Antwoord and Skrillex can be found on The Seattle Weekly’s website here: https://www.seattleweekly.com/slideshow/deadmau5-the-paramount-31583353/ Since The Seattle Weekly only takes 10 photos max for […]

Erica’s been great to work with and hang out with since our first initial shoot, and now we’ve got another small one under our belts.  We didn’t have much time to prepare, so this entire shoot took less than about 30 minutes total.  Despite the short time frame, I think they all came out pretty good, and Erica’s happy with […]

No, I’m not talking about “Boyz II Men, ABC, and BBD” here 🙂  Last month, a bunch of my relatives from my mom’s side of the family visited us from the east of the Mississippi as they went on a cruise up to Alaska.  They weren’t able to stay in Seattle very long, so I made it a point to […]

Chris contacted me via NASIOC and hired me to take some photos of his car for this month’s Top Scoob Competition. We went out to the Sodo/Georgetown area to take some photos in a new location that Sasha and I scouted.  The lighting didn’t turn out as well as I would’ve liked, but I still think the photos came out […]

For my third year in a row, I spent a Saturday out of the year among my Subaru brethren at the West Coast Subaru Show.  This year, the show took place in Cashmere, Washington, just 10-15 minutes from both Leavanworth and Wenatchee.  Again I participated as one of the judges and also gave away a free photoshoot as part of […]

Following the NWMotiv International Automotive Showcase, I was fortunate enough to take some time to photograph Jeff’s STI, which turned out to be the Best of Show winner.  Jeff actually won a free giveaway photo session from me at last year’s West Coast Subaru Show, but thanks to the wonderous wait times of JDM parts, we were only able to […]

After two straight days of disappointment from staying up very late during the weeknights to capture the Northern lights, I had high hopes for this week’s Perseid Meteor Shower.  As all of my friends know, I’m a big astronomy buff and the only thing that kept me from pursuing a career in astronomy was my hatred for higher level mathematics.  […]

I spent some time tonight to add 5 new poster prints to Smugmug, each available for purchase at $70 + shipping!  Just click on each photo and click “Buy” at the top right corner. Be sure to also pick 20×30 inches for the size: If anyone has any suggestions for poster prints from past photos I’ve taken, please don’t hesitate […]

I was fortunate enough to spend the majority of last Saturday in the company of Erica and Angi.  This was simply just a fun photoshoot which also happened the serve the purposes of getting some formal headshots for Erica to start building her portfolio and to drive all the Subaru guys out there nuts: both Erica and Angi drive STIs.  […]

A little over a week ago, my brother, sister-in-law, and two nieces were in town for a short vacation.  We spent a couple days up in Victoria BC, along with visiting Snoqualmie Falls.  The weather was great throughout their entire trip, which made for some really nice photo opportunities, such as the above sunset photo overlooking Victoria’s Inner Harbor.  Here’s […]

Formula D is one of the events I’ve always looked forward to as a photographer every year. I’ve been photographing Formula D since its inaugural event in the Pacific Northwest back in 2006, and it definitely seems to get better and better each year. There was absolutely zero rain this year and while it was definitely hot, it wasn’t quite […]

Just like last year, I spent Independence Day atop Eugene’s apartment building in the U-District of Seattle to watch the fireworks over Lake Union. The weather wasn’t quite as nice as last year’s, but the cloud cover helped reflect some of the light down, making the whole show seem a bit brighter. Here’s a link to all my photos: https://verdugo.smugmug.com/Events/Independence-Day-2010/ […]

Make no mistake: I love the E46 M3.  What I didn’t love however, was the maintenance costs associated with owning a used M3 outside of warranty.  These costs eventually started to catch up with me, so I decided to start looking into new cars as a replacement. As I’ve grown older, having absolute power and street superiority were no longer […]

My good friends for the past 8 years, Erik and Tana, finally tied the knot and asked me to help photograph their wedding.  It was probably the most gorgeous day in Seattle this year and things really couldn’t be more perfect.  Please follow this link on my ArminWeddings.com website for more photos: https://www.arminweddings.com/2010/06/allas-main-wedding/

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but for very good reason…work! Work has been super busy, and I haven’t had many cars to shoot lately. However, that will be changing soon, especially since I’m doing work for NWMotiv.com now. In the meantime, I was tagged on these photos on Facebook by my good friends Jayr and Mae de Leon: Notice […]

Last Saturday the 24th, I donated my photography services to help my good friend, Berto Mendoza with a charity event.  Entitled “Locals 2 Legends,” the event raised money to aid rural victims of last month’s earthquake in Chile, which happens to be Berto’s home country.  The event was held at Woodshed Studios in Seattle and helped raise about $3000 to […]

Two of my old friends from high school, Bryce and Jenya, had me shoot their short and informal wedding.  It was a total blast!  Please follow this link on my ArminWeddings.com website for more photos: https://www.arminweddings.com/2010/04/barrick-melnik-wedding/

It’s kind of ironic that today’s the first day of Spring, but this was really the only time we both had time to take some snaps of his winter setup. The area we shot in didn’t have very smooth road and it got dark a lot faster than I expected, but I think the shots still came out okay.  Here […]

Yesterday, March 6th marked my annual visit to my Alma Mater’s “Quad, ” which features cherry blossoms or “sakura.”  The sakura were in bloom earlier than usual this year thanks to Él Niño, and with a grey and wet forecast upcoming, it was more packed than any of the previous years I’ve visited.  Nevertheless, the Quad was as gorgeous as […]

Thanks to the wonderfulness that is SmugMug‘s new “Show Off” feature, I’ve updated my portfolio pages with SmugMug’s new Flash-powered slide show.  I also have to thank RJ DeGuzman for showing me where to find it!  I find this new Flash-powered slide show to be a lot less clunky than the previous one I was using, plus since it’s powered […]

With over 600 miles and a couple weeks to let the springs settle, I met up with our tester to take final photos of his 09 WRX with EPIC Engineering springs to show off the drop after the springs have fully settled.  Everything looks great and he’s very happy!  We hope to start selling them very soon.  Here is another […]

My work with Dan and EPIC Engineering continues, now in a more formal marketing role.  Along with just taking photos, I’m also more involved in the R&D process and marketing the brand and products on various media, including online forums like NASIOC.  Above is the latest set of lowering springs that we’re testing for the 09+ WRX.  Special thanks to […]

Other than finishing up the new look of my website here, 2010 has started off pretty slowly in terms of photography.  I’ve been working on getting new clients, but the mostly rainy weather (albeit very warm for a Seattle winter) has prevented any really good outdoor photos.  Luckily, my friend Dan had never been to the Museum of Flight at […]

It’s a new year (happy new year again to everyone), so I decided it was time for a fresh start with a lot of things.  The first of these things was my website.  I put a lot of work into the old template, but no matter what I did, it just seemed so cluttered and less than professional.  I started […]

I look back at 2009 with mixed feelings.  Certainly some things went my way, but other things really didn’t.  Nevertheless, I’m happy to see 2010 arrive and simply hope for the best.  In looking back at 2009, I decided to post up my favorite photos of 2009, choosing one photo from each month.  Voila: January

December 11, 2009 marks a momentous ocassion. Thanks to help and encouragement from Garret Alpers, “Armin Ausejo Photography” is now officially a recognized business in Washington state.  To help get this business off the ground, I constructed a new website dedicated to my wedding photography.  I’m going to making some major efforts to really get my wedding photography going, so […]

The nice guys at Fine Line Imports flew me down to Santa Rosa, CA last Saturday to take some snaps of their own and customer cars.   I can only post a few here since we’re trying for publication, but here’s a few to share. Ryan, Miles, and Steve really do some top-notch work. They really know their stuff and […]

A Tweet that I made yesterday seemed to have some people concerned, or at least confused or curious as to what’s going on. Thus, here is the explanation 🙂 As I mentioned in my blog about turning “The Dirty Thirty,” one of the biggest concerns I have as I “grow up” is paying down debts, so that I can buy […]

One of the things that’s been bugging me as of late has been my main camera bag. I’ve been using a Lowepro CompuTrekker Plus for a few years now and for the most part, it’s treated me well. I could carry all my gear with room to spare, including my laptop. However, as useful as the space was, a lot […]

My good and long time friends, Russell and Suzy finally tied the knot on the 24th in Redmond, WA. It was a relatively small wedding, with both the ceremony itself and the reception taking place at the Clise Mansion in Marymoor Park.  I teamed up with my good friend and fellow photographer Tanya Jose, since we’re both friends of Russell […]

Wence and I made the trek out to Yakima to shoot Ryan and Rachel’s wedding.  We made the wise decision to drive over on Friday night rather than Saturday morning and thanks to Wence’s driving, we made it from Seattle to our hotel in Yakima in almost exactly 2 hours, which included a break to get fast food in Ellensburg.  […]

It’s officially one day before my birthday, although now it’s RJ’s birthday, so happy birthday RJ! Anyway, in relation to my last blog, here’s a birthday wishlist for my 30th birthday. You’ll notice that obviously some of these are pretty much impossible to happen overnight unless I’ve been bestowed omnipotent powers, but hey that’s why it’s called a wishlist, right? […]

Just as anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m the kind of person who does a lot of thinking.  Sometimes I do too much thinking, but I’m a thinker nonetheless.  It’s been awhile since I’ve shared my thoughts with the world (other than my typical Twitter/Facebook rants) and with such a momentous occasion coming this Saturday, I figured it […]

My good friend and fellow photographer Josh Mackey just posted up a blog that describes an experience that I feel all current and future professional photographers should be weary about. Given our current economy and everyone having budget cuts, it’s important for photographers to make sure they watch out for themselves and not get screwed over, no matter the size […]

On September 1, 2004, a car show club was started at The Ram in University Village. Born out of the ashes of Team Intrinsic, this car club’s sole purpose was to have a good, familiar group of friends that loved to show off their cars at car shows in an organized team. Founding members Armin H. Ausejo, Wence Estrada, Emily […]

Didn’t get to take too many photos since I was busy judging, but I did get to take a few decent ones. This was the 11th year for the West Coast Subaru Show, and I felt that it was a great success! Mad props for Tex and all of the WCSS staff. All the photos: West Coast Subaru Show 11 […]

What an epic wedding!  This was my first wedding in awhile and I was anxious to see how well the D300/D200 combo would work out.  The D300 really shined, but I have to say that the D200 was really starting to show its age, especially with the high ISO noise.  Nevertheless, I think the photos still turned out quite well.  […]

In its fourth year coming to the greater Seattle area, Formula D returned stronger and more exciting than ever this past Saturday, August 8th. I’ve been covering Formula D for Subiesport/DrivingSports each year it’s come to Seattle, and I honestly do believe it gets better and better every year. In past years, I’ve endured scorching heat (100+ temps on the […]

Last Saturday, Erich, Jess, and I traveled 2 – 2 1/2 hours east on I-90 to shoot his car for an upcoming publication. The original areas we had in mind to shoot turned out to be extremely busy, thanks in part to the 90-100 degree temperatures that were predicted. However, after driving along for a bit, we found a scenic […]

I’m quite proud of this one 🙂  My cousin Wence’s 02 WRX has been published on TunerZine.com!  Click the photo or click here to check it out!

Smores from BluWater Bistro on Lake Union last weekend for Mary Ann’s birthday 🙂  Photos taken with my Samsung T929 Memoir cell phone!

I love my Mariners, and I love Field Seats too! Lighting was a bit tricky since half the time the roof was open and the rest was closed, but the D300 still shined like usual. We sat in Section 117, Row 20 thanks to some discount coupons we were able to get. I was able to capture a great sequence […]

This was our second year participating in this great charity show for Habitat for Humanity. I was quite happy to see my team, Project One, take home the Best Team Quality award. Our individual members took home awards as well, including trophies in the 2-door, 4-door, and 5-door classes, as well as the award for Best Wheels. Congrats to all […]

One quick pic…I’ve been helping Dan at EPIC Engineering out with testing springs for the 08-09 STI, and I took a quick snap of how it’s looking with the latest prototype rear springs and bumpstops installed.  The car’s actually very dirty, but it didn’t come out in the photo 🙂  I added a little graduated ND filter for some emphasis […]

My MB-D10 vertical grip came in today.  The camera already feels much more complete than without it.  Nikon definitely did well on the ergonomics of this new grip.  I’ll of course have a more detailed review later on, but until then, here’s a quick photo from my phone:

The first test for my new D300 and Velbon tripod legs was the Independence Day fireworks over Lake Union. Eugene’s roof ended up being pretty much a perfect location, with a nice view of the Space Needle in the background.  Both the camera and tripod work flawlessly 🙂  Here’s a few selected photos: [smugmug url=”https://verdugo.smugmug.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=gallery&Data=8800354_vsnxA&format=rss200″ imagecount=”100″ start=”6″ num=”4″]

Just a quick teaser pic for now, taken with my Samsung T929:

Well, I finally bit the bullet…I placed my order for D300 body and this badass carbon fiber tripod on Friday: Velbon EL Carmagne 640A Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs Can’t really argue with a tripod that weighs about 3 lbs but can hold up to 25 lbs. w00t! I’ll definitely post up a review after I’ve put each through its paces.

My cousin Wence finally got his Advan TC-IIs on, so it was time for a quick shoot. These will eventually make it to TunerZine when I get a chance to take a few more photos. Special thanks to Kate for scoping out the location. This was my first time really experimenting with my SB-600 off camera + Lightsphere for automotive […]

I’m a month behind on posting this, but oh well.  For Mother’s Day, I made my mom a photobook of our trip to France last year.  The book has a leather cover and about 50 pages of the photos both my dad and myself took during our 2 1/2 weeks in France.  I’m extremely happy with how the book turned […]

I’ve been meaning to post up my review of this phone since it replaced my venerable Sony Ericsson w810i a few months ago. My old phone is still going strong is Kyle’s hands, and I still miss it to a certain extent. However, when I found out that this new Samsung Memoir not only had an 8 Megapixel camera (yes […]

My friend RJ showed this to me today while I was at work and I finally got around to watching it.  Good stuff!  I’m definitely going to keep these simple but very effective techniques in mind 🙂 Christy Schuler’s Retouching Tutorials

It’s June, and that means it’s Graduation Season. My cousins Mike and Margaret graduated from Seattle University and Seattle Vocational Institute, respectively. I’m very proud of both of them, with Mike graduating Cum Laude in Fine Arts and Humanities double major, and Margaret landing a a solid, well-paying Medical Assistant job well before graduating and the University of Washington Medical […]

I was having some stupid problems with the tabs at the top of the page…one pixel was leftover underneath the tab image, causing that to highlight with mouseover.  After several hours, I finally found the solutions here: https://www.nixer.org/css-space-underneath-image I hate coding…argh!  But it’s fixed…and it’s probably something no one else would’ve cared about too :/

I was on a mission to get this conversion to WordPress finished today, and now I’m proud to say it’s just about how I want it! I’ll be playing around with more plugins and widgets here and there, but everything is working right. If you guys see any typos or links that don’t work, please let me know! I hope […]

So far, the conversion to WordPress has been pretty painless.  Time for some lunch…I still have plenty to do.

Greetings all, As you can see, ArminAusejo.com is going to WordPress! Please standby as I figure out this new theme system and such 🙂 For now, please visit my Smugmug here: Armin H. Ausejo’s SmugMug
