2025 Photography Year in Review
To say that 2025 was a challenging year might be the biggest understatement I’ve ever given. Forces seemed to align against me in more than a few ways and photography was really the only thing that was able to keep me sane. There are a lot of things that I can’t talk about, but the biggest gut punch was the sudden passing of my mom in August.
These are the last photos I have of my mom before her passing. I miss her every day and her loss has left me without much to say about my photography this year. Nevertheless, I still wanted to do a year in review, so here we are.
Cars and Aircraft
I had one main photoshoot with Ryan and his Audi RS3, a few photos of my own Audi RS5, and had a great opportunity to take photos of the Seafair Air Show over Lake Washington.
Animals
Two whale watching trips resulted in some truly fantastic photos, since we got lucky with some active humpback whales near Vancouver, BC and had to sail out toward Victoria, BC to find some orcas.
Flowers
Spring time brought some beautiful flowers in my front yard and the macro lens came in very handy.
People
My niece Harper was once again a great photo subject and I had an allergy-inducing photoshoot out near Snoqualmie with Sam, Nate, and their pets. My iPhone 15 Pro was also able to get some great shots rink-side at a Kraken game.
Places and Skies
There were a lot of gorgeous skies, landscapes, seascapes, and cityscapes to see this year. Sometimes just taking in the beauty of your surroundings is therapeutic in and of itself.
Watch Collection
I probably take a photo of what’s on my wrist every day since it’s convenient and watches are just nice to look at. I’ve been working on my lighting and processing over the year and I think that’s starting to show in my photography.
So long, 2025
I often try not to be negative, but in this case, good riddance to 2025. While it did have some good highlights, I’m very much looking forward to a fresh start in 2026. Best wishes and holidays to you all.
