Formula D Seattle is undoubtedly my most favorite event to photograph every year. In previous years, I shot the event for Subiesport Magazine and Driving Sports, however this was the first year I shot the event for NWMotiv.com. Due to scheduling issues with another event I was going to on Saturday, I was only able to shoot Friday’s practice and qualifying sessions, but I was also able to get Kyle “KP” Pope to fly up from Arizona and shoot in […]
It’s been three and a half years since I went out to take photos of Seattle at night, and since my friend Pauline really wanted to take photos and learn more about using her DSLR, we decided to take advantage of the dry and warm Seattle weather. We started at Kerry Park and ended up on the Jose Rizal Bridge for the panorama below. I started with the 24-70mm at Kerry Park, but decided to go with the 85mm instead […]
Four years ago, I took Brianna’s senior portraits and much to my surprise, she hit me up randomly for some new photos. Apparently, she had been using her old photos all this time and never had a chance to get some new ones done. The weather turned out to be absolutely gorgeous here in Seattle this past weekend, so we met up for a quick photoshoot. I switched between my 24-70mm and 85mm the whole time, and although the photos […]
Last Sunday the 22nd was the University Street Fair, and my friends and I decided go to out and shoot some street photography. I hadn’t done any dedicated street photography for some time now, so it was a welcome change to most of the other types of things I’ve been shooting lately. I only brought my Nikkor 50mm ƒ1.4 and 85mm ƒ1.8 with my D700 and quite honestly, I didn’t miss the zoom at all. There were plenty of things […]
Since I started using my Nikon D700 last November, I hadn’t really changed my line-up of lenses. My Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D and Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D felt right at home with the new full frame sensor, and the Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G satisfied my everyday walk around lens requirement, but none of these lenses really offered anything new to me. On top of that, my first generation Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR was proven to have some issues with the new FX format […]
